Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Guwahati – Samdrup Jongkhar

Arrive at Guwahati Airport and drive to Samdrup Jongkhar, Bhutan’s southeastern border town and gateway to eastern Bhutan. Explore the lively local market, visit Zangtho Pelri Temple, and pass by Samdrup Jongkhar Dzong, the district’s administrative centre.

Day 02: Samdrup Jongkhar – Trashigang

Drive to Trashigang, once an important trading post on the Tibet route. Stop at Khaling Valley, known for its lush greenery and traditional textile weaving, and pass through Kanglung, home to Sherubtse College. Visit Trashigang Dzong, dramatically perched on a hilltop.

Day 03: Trashigang – Mongar

Travel to Mongar, with a detour to Drametse Lhakhang, one of eastern Bhutan’s most important monasteries and birthplace of the Drametse mask dance. Visit Mongar Dzong and Yagang Lhakhang, showcasing enduring Bhutanese architecture and spiritual heritage.

Day 04: Mongar – Bumthang

Cross the scenic Thrumshing La Pass into central Bhutan. Explore Ura Valley, known for its clustered villages and rural charm, and visit Membartsho (Burning Lake), a revered pilgrimage site. Continue to Bumthang, Bhutan’s spiritual heartland.

Day 05: Bumthang Valley Exploration

Discover Bumthang’s sacred sites including Kurjey Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Jakar Dzong, Tamshing Lhakhang, and Kharchhu Monastery. Visit a local Yathra weaving house to experience traditional textile craftsmanship.

Day 06: Bumthang – Trongsa

Drive across Yutong La Pass to Trongsa, the historic seat of Bhutanese monarchy. Visit Ta Dzong Museum and the majestic Trongsa Dzong, the ancestral home of Bhutan’s royal family.

Day 07: Trongsa – Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley)

Travel west via Pele La Pass to the pristine Phobjikha Valley, winter habitat of the endangered black-necked cranes. Visit Gangtey Monastery and explore the wide glacial valley.

Day 08: Gangtey – Punakha & Wangdue

Drive to Punakha, stopping at Wangduephodrang. Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the famous Fertility Temple, followed by the iconic Punakha Dzong at the confluence of two rivers.

Day 09: Punakha – Thimphu

Hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten for panoramic valley views. Drive to Thimphu via Dochula Pass, renowned for its 108 chortens and Himalayan vistas. Visit Memorial Chorten and Tashichho Dzong.

Day 10: Thimphu Sightseeing

Explore Tango Monastery, followed by visits to the National Library, Institute for Zorig Chusum, Textile Museum, Simply Bhutan, Dechenphug Monastery, and Buddha Dordenma viewpoint.

Day 11: Thimphu – Paro

Drive to Paro via Simtokha Dzong, stopping at Chuzom river confluence and Tschogang Lhakhang. Visit National Museum (Ta Dzong) and Rinpung Dzong. Evening stroll through Paro town.

Day 12: Paro – Tiger’s Nest Hike

Hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). Later visit Drukgyel Dzong and the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang.

Day 13: Departure from Paro

Transfer to Paro International Airport for onward departure, concluding your immersive Bhutan journey.
