Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

Arrive at Paro International Airport and receive a warm Bhutanese welcome. Enjoy a scenic drive to Thimphu, allowing time to acclimatise. Visit the National Memorial Chorten and the impressive Thimphu Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and monastic body. If visiting over the weekend, explore the lively Centenary Farmers’ Market. End the day at Kuenselphodrang Nature Park, home to the towering Buddha Dordenma, followed by an evening walk through Thimphu town.

Day 2: Thimphu Culture, Nature & Spiritual Trails

Explore Thimphu’s cultural and natural highlights. Begin with a peaceful hike to Cheri Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most important meditation centres. Visit the National Textile Museum to learn about Bhutan’s weaving heritage, then see the unique Takin, Bhutan’s national animal, at the Takin Preserve. Continue to Sangaygang Viewpoint (BBS Tower) for panoramic views before hiking through forests and orchards to Wangditse Monastery.

Day 3: Thimphu – Dochula Pass – Punakha

Drive to Punakha via the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100m), offering sweeping Himalayan views and the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Descend into the fertile Punakha Valley and visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of two rivers. Cross Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge and hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, followed by a gentle walk to Chimi Lhakhang, the famed fertility temple.

Day 4: Punakha – Paro

Travel to the picturesque Paro Valley, surrounded by rice fields and Himalayan peaks. Visit Rinpung Dzong, a striking fortress-monastery overlooking the Paro River, then explore the historic ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, built to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over Tibetan invasions. Enjoy views of sacred Mount Jomolhari on a clear day.

Day 5: Paro – Chele La Pass – Haa Valley Excursion

Drive to the remote Haa Valley via Chele La Pass (3,988m), the highest motorable pass in Bhutan. Stop for panoramic views and a picnic before descending into one of Bhutan’s least-visited regions. Visit Katsho Village and Katsho Lhakhang, gaining insight into traditional rural life. Return to Paro in the evening.

Day 6: Tiger’s Nest Monastery Hike

Embark on a memorable hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), Bhutan’s most iconic landmark, dramatically perched on a cliff high above the Paro Valley. After the descent, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, dating back to the 7th century.

Day 7: Departure from Paro

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey, departing with unforgettable memories of Bhutan’s culture, landscapes, and spiritual heritage.
